Treatments and prices

All treatments on this page are private pay. None are covered by MSP. Every visit comes with an itemised receipt you can submit to your extended health plan. Coverage varies by plan.

Where Suman Samra, RN, and Dr. Chawla both give a treatment, both prices are shown and you choose.

Regenerative medicine

PRP is made from your own blood. Prolotherapy uses an injected irritant solution. Both are used for joint, tendon and ligament pain, and PRP also for thinning hair. Any change comes over weeks to months, and results vary between people.

  • Joint and tendon PRP (MSK PRP)

    $850

Your blood is drawn and spun to concentrate the platelets (PRP), then injected into an injured joint, tendon or muscle.

In the knee, a standard course is two injections a few weeks apart. Expect a few days of ache and swelling. Any benefit tends to build over six to eight weeks and is judged at about three months.

  • Hair PRP

    $650

PRP injected into the scalp for thinning hair. Usually given as a series of sessions.

  • Prolotherapy

    $200

An irritant solution injected into weakened ligaments and tendons.

Aesthetic medicine

Injectables and skin treatments, given by Dr. Chawla or Suman Samra, RN. Per-unit and per-syringe totals depend on the areas treated. Results vary from person to person.

  • IV iron

Wellness drips are a complementary service. They are not a treatment for any disease, and how people feel afterward varies.

Your first visit

Every new patient starts with a 15-minute consultation. There is no charge for it, and nothing is scheduled before this conversation.

Book a consultation

What happens

You talk through what you want to change and why. The practitioner takes your history and examines you where it is relevant. If you need longer than 15 minutes, a longer visit is booked.

If treatment is not the right fit

Some requests are not appropriate, are unlikely to work, or are better handled elsewhere. You hear that at the first visit, with a referral if one makes more sense.

The full cost before booking

You get the complete price for the plan before anything is booked. For per-unit or per-session treatments, that means the expected total and what could change it.

Same-day treatment

Some treatments can be done at the same visit, if one suits you and you want to go ahead. Others need lab work, imaging or a planned course first.

How long results take

Regenerative treatments work over weeks to months, and results vary between people. Your practitioner will tell you what the evidence supports, and roughly when you might notice a change.

What to bring

A list of your medications and supplements, and any recent lab results or imaging related to your visit. Arrive a few minutes early to fill in intake forms.

Treatment bookings take a $200 deposit, credited to your treatment. It is kept if you cancel with less than 24 hours' notice or miss the appointment. The consultation takes no deposit. Debit, credit card and e-transfer are accepted; credit cards carry a 2.5% fee.

Patient information

Prepared September 2026

A patient guide to knee arthritis injections

Dr. Chawla compiled this guide from the published evidence on injections for knee osteoarthritis. The summary below covers what to know first, the week after an injection and questions to ask. A shorter summary is in Punjabi.

None of these injections regrows cartilage or reverses arthritis on your X-ray.

Two things to know first

None of these injections regrows cartilage or reverses arthritis on your X-ray. They are all aimed at the same two things: less pain, and moving better. Each works best alongside strengthening exercise and weight management.

Which one suits you depends heavily on how advanced your arthritis is. Your X-ray is graded 1 to 4: grade 1 is barely visible wear, grade 4 is bone-on-bone. The right injection for a grade 2 knee is often the wrong one for a grade 4 knee.

The week after

Cortisone often works within days. PRP and hyaluronic acid usually cause a few days of ache and swelling first. This is normal and expected.

Any benefit from PRP tends to build over six to eight weeks. Judge it at three months, not three days.

Good questions to ask at your appointment

  • What grade is my arthritis, and which of these is realistically likely to help me at that grade?
  • How will I know at three months whether it worked, and what happens if it did not?
  • Can I repeat this, and how often?
  • When can I get back to what I want to be doing?
  • Is there a reason to treat one knee first rather than both?
